Values:

My highest personal values are integrity, authenticity, growth, compassion, and freedom. I strive to embody these values in the work I do with my clients. This is what my values-based practice looks like when you work with me:

Integrity & Authenticity: I strive to show up authentically and honestly to our interactions; who I am in session with you is who I am as a human being (with appropriate therapeutic boundaries, of course!). I am committed to my own personal therapy, meaning I do not believe in asking my clients to do work I am not willing to do myself. .

Growth: I am committed to providing a welcoming and safe space for your growth and evolution; I believe in partnering with you to determine what matters to YOU, what growth looks/feels like for YOU (not what I think it “should” be).

Compassion: Any clients who have worked with me know that compassion, especially self-compassion, is my mantra. You don’t need to have it or know what it is (or even like the idea) to begin our work together, but know that it is a cornerstone of my work, so we’ll definitely be talking about it!

Freedom: Giving you the freedom and acceptance to express your authentic self; helping you identify the barriers—self-imposed and systems-based—to expressing yourself fully and freely in the world.

Professional Background:

I am a licensed professional counselor as well as a trained mediator with over 15 years of experience in mediation and facilitated dialogue. I worked in the non-profit sector (including domestic violence services, dispute settlement/mediation services and the United Way) from 2000-2017 and opened my private practice in February 2017. I work with individuals, families, and couples on many different issues, including life transitions, conflict management, relationship issues, end of life planning, and LGBTQ+ specific concerns. I am also trained in EMDR, the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, integrating spirituality into psychotherapy, and as an end-of-life doula. My practice is trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-bigotry.

I am licensed in both North Carolina and Georgia.
